 Ⅰ. Teaching objectives of Physical Education Courses
  To maintain students’ basic physique and cultivate their life-long sports habits, the University established the teaching objectives of Physical Education courses based on the following sports aspects:
1. Establish basic sports literacy
2. Cultivate healthy sports ability
3. Create friendly Adapted Physical Education (APE) environment

  II. Physical Education Course Planning for Different School Systems

  1. Students in the four-year technical program shall complete six mandatory Physical Education courses with no credit, including one basic sports literacy course and five healthy sports ability courses. From the second semester of the first year for the four-year technical program, students may take up to two mandatory sports courses for each semester.
2. Students in the two-year technical program shall complete two mandatory sports courses with no credit.

  III. Aspects and Content of Physical Education Courses

  1. Basic sports literacy course (students in the four-year technical program during the first semester of the first year shall take one course) is a sports course provided for the students of the same department in the four-year technical program during the first semester of the first year, which focuses on teaching the basic sports concepts, maintaining basic physique, establishing sports habits, exerting teamwork spirits, and improving the on-campus sports atmosphere. The course further describes the general education course concept for choosing healthy sports ability in the future. The exhibition of the sports credit on the transcript of the semester: 【Sports – Basic Sports Literacy】.
2. Healthy sports ability (students in the four-year technical program shall take five courses from the second semester of the first year, and students in the two-year technical program shall take two courses) courses include competitive or leisure sports; please refer to the table below (Attachment 1). The exhibition of the sports credit on the transcript of the semester: 【Sports – Title of the Item】 (i.e., Table Tennis 1).
3. APE: The course is particularly opened for students with particular demands; the qualification of students is as follows: Students with physical disabilities, students with chronical diseases (certifying documents shall be provided), and students who are unable to perform general sports due to accidents. When accidents occurred to students during the semester, they may transfer into the APE course from the Physical Education courses above, and the exhibition of the sports credit on the transcript of the semester: 【APE】.

  IV. Sports Course Selection Requirements

  1. For the basic sports literacy for freshmen in the four-year technical program, the system will directly add the course into freshmen’s mandatory courses.
2. From the second semester of the four-year technical program and the first semester of the two-year technical program, freshmen may take up to two mandatory sports courses. During phase 1 of course selection, the sports courses with the original class is available for chose. During phases 2 and 3 of course selection, all students may take Physical Education courses in different school systems.
3. Students may only choose healthy sports ability courses with different titles, such as Table Tennis 1, Table Tennis 2, and Table Tennis 3 (such three courses are healthy sports ability courses with different titles).
4. Credits of basic sports literacy or healthy sports ability may be recognized as APE; however, only one APE course may be taken for each semester; the number of times of recognition may be up to six times (i.e., six sports courses). When an APE is taken for the semester, students may not concurrently take courses of basic sports literacy or healthy sports ability during the semester.
5. When students have successfully elected two mandatory sports courses in the same semester, and have to transfer to APE courses due to other causes during the semester, students shall not have any dissenting opinions when the Office of Academic Affairs deleted the two selected mandatory sports courses as sports credits for only one course of APE may be secured during a semester.
