English Teaching Section

 

Teaching objectives
  The English Section currently has five full-time teachers, including one professor, one associate professors, two assistant professor, and one lecturers. For freshmen in the four-year technical program, the mandatory English courses include two hours of lecture and one hour of Lab, a total of two credits. The focus of the courses is professional and general articles (including skills) reading, basic grammar, sentence analysis and writing, and listening and speaking practices in daily lives.
Teaching and Researching
  The section adopts multi-media in teaching and extensively utilizes software and hardware equipment in general classrooms and language labs, such as the interactive applications of slide shows, projectors and video-recording and audio-recording equipment. In addition, the section recommends students to use CDs and DVDs, computer equipment, and book resources in the library of National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences (NTUNHS) to supplement the insufficiency of textbooks.
Future Development
  Ⅰ. At present, the section is discussing on a program regarding whether remedial courses shall be provided for the English placement of freshmen to solve the issue related to effects on teaching quality due to the differences in freshmen’s English proficiency.
Ⅱ. Encourage and assist teachers of the section to participate in internal and external academic seminars and research projects.
